Julia Slaunwhite, B.A.

Therapist Practicum Student

Julia has joined Crossroads initially as a therapist practicum student finishing the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree at Yorkville University. Following the completion of her student work term and January 2025 graduation, she is expected to join the team as an associate.

From an early age, Julia has felt a calling to help individuals work through life’s challenges. Julia takes an approach to counselling that is warm, non-judgemental, and collaborative. In addition to her formal education, Julia has received training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Her intention is to use her education and training to assist you in determining what you hope to get out of counselling and how you would like to get there. Julia recognizes that no two individuals are alike and understands the importance of tailoring treatment to each individual.

While focused on her Master degree studies, Julia has volunteered with the Hope for Mental Health Society of Nova Scotia. Through this volunteer work, she helps to support individuals who live with mental health challenges, such as schizophrenia, live well and independently in the community. During her undergraduate degree at Saint Mary’s University, Julia completed an Honours thesis on the media’s influence on people’s attitudes and perceptions of individuals living with schizophrenia.

Julia brings integrity, empathy, and compassion to her work.
