Julia Slaunwhite, M.A.

Registered Counselling Therapist – Candidate (RCT-C)

Julia Slaunwhite has joined Crossroads as an associate, bringing a unique blend of academics, clinical experience, and profound empathy to her practice. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University.

From an early age, Julia felt a calling to help individuals navigate life’s challenges. Known for her gentlecalm demeanor, and soft-spoken warmth, she creates a safe and non-judgmental space for every client. In her practice, she works closely with individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and relationship challenges, helping them develop practical coping skills to navigate complex life transitions. Julia’s therapeutic approach is deeply collaborative, tailoring treatment to match each person’s unique history and personal goals.

In her practice Julia draws from several theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based practices, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). With an integrative therapeutic approach, Julia helps clients identify their current challenges and assists them in moving toward meaningful change. Her dedication to mental health also extends into the community. While completing her Master’s degree, Julia volunteered with the Hope for Mental Health Society of Nova Scotia, supporting individuals with complex challenges like schizophrenia to live well and independently. This hands-on work mirrors her academic roots, where her Honours research focused on the media’s influence on public perceptions of severe mental illness. Julia seamlessly pairs professional expertise with genuine human compassion to guide clients toward meaningful change.
